The National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame is inviting community members to “Take the Reins” as it officially opens applications for its revitalized Cowgirl Volunteer Program.
As the Museum prepares for its highly anticipated expansion and grand opening this fall, volunteers will play an important role in helping shape the next chapter of the nation’s only museum dedicated to honoring and celebrating women of the West.
“There has never been a more exciting time to become part of The Cowgirl,” said Hannah Wilson, Education Outreach Manager. “Our volunteers are ambassadors for our mission, welcoming guests from around the world while helping us share the extraordinary stories of the women who shaped the West. As we prepare to open our expanded Museum, we’re looking for passionate individuals who want to help create unforgettable experiences for every visitor.”
The Cowgirl Volunteer Program offers opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds, interests, and schedules. Whether assisting with visitor engagement, educational programs, special events, or behind-the-scenes projects, volunteers can make a meaningful impact while becoming part of a welcoming and dedicated community.
“No matter your experience or availability, there’s a place for you in the Cowgirl Volunteer Program,” said Wilson. “Whether you can volunteer once a month or several times a week, every contribution helps us inspire future generations through the stories of courage, resilience, and independence that define the Cowgirl.”
Cowgirl Volunteer Benefits Include:
- Flexible, self-scheduled volunteer opportunities
- The chance to support a variety of Museum departments and new programming
- Exclusive volunteer perks, membership benefits, and recognition

The launch of the volunteer recruitment campaign comes as excitement continues to build around the Museum’s 16,000-square-foot expansion, scheduled to open later this year. The expansion will introduce new galleries, enhanced visitor experiences, a state-of-the-art event space, and expanded opportunities for education and community engagement.
Individuals interested in joining the Cowgirl Volunteer Program are encouraged to apply today and become part of this historic moment in the Museum’s 50-year legacy.
