
Mission of the Soldaderas to Amazonas Collegiate Scholarship:
Escaramuzas’ commitment to their sport is not recognized to the level of school-sanctioned sports and activities during scholarship consideration. In accordance with its mission, the National Cowgirl Museum established the first-ever escaramuza educational scholarship to provide a financial opportunity exclusively for escaramuzas enrolling in higher education.
Scholarship Award: The scholarship recipient will be awarded $5,000.00.
Eligibility and Consideration:
- Applicants must be a graduating high school senior or college undergraduate currently enrolled or accepted at an accredited university or higher educational institution.
- Applicants must have actively competed on an escaramuza team for two years.
- Applicants must submit a completed application and reference letter by Sunday, November 15, 2026 at 11:59pm. Materials received after this date will not be considered.
- The scholarship recipient will be selected based on career goals, leadership and community involvement, and grade point average.
Required Materials:

- Application – complete the application through Jotform.
- One letter of recommendation completed by someone other than a relative who has known the applicant for at least two years.
- Headshot – personal photo dressed in escaramuza attire
Essay Question: In approximately 600 words, write about a woman in charrería who inspires you. What have you learned from her and how have you applied these lessons to your own life and/or your future goals?
