Amon Carter MuseumThe Amon Carter Museum of American Art is one of the premier museums of American art in the nation and a Fort Worth institution for more than 50 years. Its gallery walls are filled with national treasures representing the best work that many of this country’s artists have produced. At any given time, there are about 400 works of art on view, ranging in subject and medium from the grand landscape paintings of the Hudson River School to delicate works on paper, rare books, dynamic sculpture, contemporary photographs, and iconic masterpieces of early American modernism. The museum’s research library offers over 14,000 items supporting the study of American art and history. Admission is free.

Kimbell Art Museum

The Kimbell Art Museum, owned and operated by the Kimbell Art Foundation, is internationally renowned for both its collections and for its architecture. The Kimbell’s collections range in period from antiquity to the 20th century and include European masterpieces by artists such as Fra Angelico, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Poussin, Velázquez, Monet, Picasso, and Matisse; important collections of Egyptian and classical antiquities; and Asian, Mesoamerican, and African art.

The Museum’s building, designed by the American architect Louis I. Kahn, is widely regarded as one of the outstanding architectural achievements of the modern era. A second building, designed by world-renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano, is scheduled to open in 2013 and will provide space for special exhibitions, allowing the Kahn building to showcase the permanent collection.

Cattle Raisers Museum

The Cattle Raisers Museum is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the vital history of the cattle and ranching industries in Texas and the Southwest. Visitors can trace the origins and development of ranching, both the industry and cultural phenomenons, throughout the 10,000 square feet of exhibit space. Suitable for all ages, the experience tells the story of the cattle industry from its origins among the West’s early Spanish settlers, through the heyday of the legendary drovers, all the way to today’s modern range technology. The exhibits also show the important role Texas and Southwestern cattle raisers play in protecting natural resources as frontline stewards of land, livestock and wildlife.
