Georgia O’Keeffe

Born in rural Wisconsin, Georgia worked as a commercial artist and an art teacher as she developed a personal style of stripping her subjects to their purest forms and colors. Reaching the status of a national treasure, she was famous for the expressive power of light and the patterns of nature in her close-up paintings of flowers and landscapes. Splitting her time between New York and New Mexico, Georgia painted almost 900 works in her career.
