Harriet (Bita) Lee

Born a twin on the 300,000 acres of the Fernandez ranch, Bita grew up with the Spanish and Navajo, not speaking English until she was six. She attended the University of New Mexico, returning to the ranch when her father took ill. Bita was an expert horsewoman, a renowned heel roper, cook and hardworking ranch hand. She successfully managed the ranch for nearly thirty years, implementing breeding improvements and designing new facilities for working cattle.
