Re-Opening Visitor FAQs

Based on guidelines from the CDC, face masks have been shown to effectively prevent the spread of COVID-19, so for our safety and that of our audiences, staff and visitors over the age of 10 will be required to wear masks and practice social distancing regardless of the individual’s vaccination status. Visitors who are unwilling or unable to wear masks will not be admitted. If a visitor has health concerns, reasonable modifications include wearing a loose face covering, such as a gaiter, so long as it is made of two layers, fits snugly around the face and chin, and is worn over the nose and mouth throughout the duration of their visit; or visitors can explore our galleries and exhibitions online via virtual experiences. If a visitor is unable to attend in-person due to this policy, we encourage them to plan a visit when the Museum’s mask policy has been removed.A face shield does not serve as a substitute for a face mask in accordance with the CDC guidelines. If you do not have a mask, we are happy to provide a complimentary disposable mask. You may wear a face shield with a face mask during your visit.

Exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public place or area of assembly. By visiting the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, you assume all risks associated to exposure to COVID-19 and acknowledge that the Museum cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed.
Hours of operation have been adjusted to support disinfecting/cleaning efforts. Tuesday – Saturday: 10am – 4pm Closed Sunday & Monday

Yes! Parking is free with a Cowgirl Museum paid admission. Generously underwritten by The Alan and Nadine Levin Foundation. Redeem your parking voucher at the front desk. Museum Lot, Amon Carter, or Heritage Garage only
To thank first responders for their service during this time, we are offering medical, police, and fire first responders free admission with a paid admission.
The Museum is a private museum and, as such, is permitted to make independent decisions on operational practices such as capacity and mask requirements. Our top priority is the safety and health of our community and staff. In addition to taking the CDC guidelines and recommendations of health officials into consideration, the museum consulted with local and national peer institutions to determine what measures and procedures would best protect visitors and staff. The Museum has implemented a range of safety and sanitation protocols, including frequently cleaning high-touch surfaces and offering a low-contact visitor experience facilitated by monitoring of visitor capacity and signage to encourage social distancing. We look forward to welcoming our community responsibly.
After careful consideration of recommendations offered by the CDC, the Museum has implemented protocols and procedures that best suit the unique needs of the museum’s infrastructure and community. It has been shown that wearing masks, socially distancing, and frequent hand washing are effective in reducing the spread of COVID-19, all of which are core parts of our new policies.
The Western Design Room with the immersion table will remain closed, as well as the media stations on the islands in the It’s Never Just a HorseTM exhibition. The interactive exhibits that will be open will be routinely sanitized for the safety of our visitors is the and the Buckin’ Bronc Room upstairs and the Photo Booth in the Hitting the Mark: Cowgirls and Wild West Shows exhibition
We recommend guests to pre-purchase their tickets before arriving to the Museum, click here to purchase tickets https://bit.ly/onlinetk. When you arrive, you will check-in at the Ticket Kiosk and if you have not pre-purchased tickets, you can purchase on-site at the kiosk.
All in-person public programs and events are postponed until further notice. In the meantime, we welcome everyone to experience the Museum’s digital programming.
The Museum continues to look closely at best practices and recommendations from the CDC with regard to close gatherings and will resume such programs as soon as it can be done safely. Visit the Museum’s website and follow the museum on social media for updates.
No food or drinks are allowed in the galleries. Guests are welcome to bring their own food to enjoy at the benches around the fountain in the front of the Museum. Tables will be added back to the Alice Walton Cowgirl Park at a later date. During events, food and drinks are only allowed in the foyer and rotunda.
Photography is allowed, but flash photography is prohibited. Share your photos on social media and tag @cowgirlmuseum.
Yes, the Museum Shop is open with additional social distancing protocols in place. Shop items are also available for purchase online.
Visitors may carry bags smaller than 11 x 15 inches. All large bags and backpacks must be checked at Bag Check.
You may leave your umbrella in Bag Check or carry it with you in a plastic bag. Large stick umbrellas cannot be taken into the galleries and can be left in this compartment of the front desk.
