“Do it with style and a smile” was the motto of Connie Griffith, one of the world’s greatest female trick riders. As a child she rode her horses Toby and Nix nearly every day, later joining a horse club and competing in rodeos. Connie was selected as the Nebraska High School Rodeo Queen and honored as the state’s most superb horsewoman when she was seventeen. One of Connie’s favorite tricks was the Suicide Drag. She hung off the back of the horse, her back parallel to the ground with her legs extended and toes pointed. She was also very creative, designing and sewing her own rodeo costumes throughout her 35-year career.
