Tillie Baldwin

Tillie was an all-around athlete when she immigrated to America from Norway and, inspired by a cowgirl movie filming, learned trick riding. She soon worked for Captain Baldwin’s Wild West Show, later joining Will Rogers’ vaudeville troupe and then the 101 Ranch. She began to rodeo in 1912 and excelled at all events. Tillie was the first woman to win a roman race and possibly the first woman to try bulldogging.
