About Escaramuza Tierra Azteca:

Escaramuza Tierra Azteca was established in 2017 in Midlothian, Texas by La Familia Alcalá. Although the team is young, the riders have over 20 years of experience in horsemanship and showmanship. The ladies of Tierra Azteca have competed nationally, placing in multiple competitions. Tierra Azteca’s 2023 victories include the 2023 Texas State Championship Title and the 2023 National USA Championship Title, giving them the pass to compete at the 2023 National Competition in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. For the 2024 competition season, Tierra Azteca secured first place in the Texas State Competition, phase 1.

Not only have these ladies been number one in the Lone Star State, but number one in the Nation. During the Escaramuza season, which typically runs from February to November, this team practices twice a week for two to three hours.

Aside from Federated Competitions, Tierra Azteca performs and presents at rodeos and western events across the nation. These ladies perform at rodeos across the State most weekends. When the team is not practicing or traveling to competitions, they enjoy life with their family, friends, and beloved horses.

The 2024 competitors are Captain Amber Alcalá, Martha Alcalá, Jasmin Avelar, Mariana Chairez, Casandra Chavarria Alcalá, Jazmin Cifuentes Alcalá, Karina Martinez, and Monica Tovar.
