Learn about the West through our Handbook of the West scavenger hunt! You will tour the Cowgirl Museum, the Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth Public Art, the Sid Richardson Museum, and the Fort Worth Stockyards while learning about faces and places of the West located right here in Fort Worth!

The Handbook is an adventure intended for elementary school students and their families. Once completed, bring it back to the Cowgirl Museum to collect a prize. To receive the prize, each participant must purchase and complete their Handbook of the West booklet. Show the completed Handbook to the parking attendant, and you will be able to park free while you collect your prize.

When is this available?
Saturday, March 12th – Sunday, March 20th during normal Museum hours

What is the intended age range?
The Handbook is for children in elementary school.

What is the cost?
Members – $5 per Handbook
Non-members – $13 for Child admission and Handbook
$5 for Adult admission (chaperone with scavenger hunter)

How long does it take?
Total estimated time – 4 hours
The activities in the Handbook that happen in the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame take at least 1.5 hours. It will take about 30 minutes to traveling to and complete the activities at the Western Heritage Parking Garage. It will take at least 20 minutes to travel to and complete the activities at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. It will take at least 45 minutes to travel to and complete the activities at the Sid Richardson Museum. It will take at least 45 minutes to travel to and complete the activities at the Fort Worth Stockyards. If you have time, feel free to explore each institution for longer than the suggested time.

Does it cost money to go to the other locations (Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Sid Richardson, or Fort Worth Stockyards)?
No. The Amon Carter Museum of American Art’s and their parking lot are free. The Amon Carter Museum is free. The Sid Richardson Museum is free. The parking lot is validated for the Sid Richardson Museum. There is free parking available at the Fort Worth Stockyards.

Will it cost money to return the completed Handbook?
No. If you show the completed Handbook to the parking attendant, as long as there is space in the parking lot, you will be able to park free.
