Movies about cowboys and cowgirls have always made for great entertainment. Part fact, part fiction – and almost always heroic in some way be it through quest or character. The making of those characters is often its own story – a different yet equally engaging tale.  Bullets and Bustles: Costumes from Lonesome Dove will feature the costumes of Captain Augustus “Gus” McCrae; Captain Woodrow F. Call, former Ranger; Joshua Deets; and a woman we are proud to claim as a cowgirl, Clara Allen. All costumes were carefully conceived  by award-winning costume designer, Van Ramsey.

Van Broughton Ramsey is a native of Wharton, Texas and received a BA from Baylor University and a Masters of Architecture from the University of Texas . He has designed for film, television and stage receiving Emmy nominations for “Sarah Plain and Tall,””Buffalo Girls”, “Feast of All Saints” and “Comanche Moon.”  Two Emmy wins for “Lonesome Dove”and “The Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All.” Recipient of the Costume Designer Guild Career Achievement Award for Excellence in Television.
