Tammy Garcia

Tammy Garcia’s internationally acclaimed work in clay, bronze and glass builds on the centuries-old tradition of Pueblo pottery to chart exciting new territory in the realm of contemporary art, expanding on the symbolism of her Santa Clara Pueblo ancestors to embrace subject matter and motifs from a variety of Native cultures. Garcia’s boldly creative innovations have revivified the ancient art, garnering her awards and accolades that include the 2008 Governors Award for Excellence in the Arts in New Mexico and a 2008 show at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
