Janet Eager Krueger

Janet Eager Krueger grew up in San Antonio. She received her BFA in Art History from the University of Texas in Austin and her MFA from UTSA in 1998.

Her work is rooted in both theme and palette in South Texas. Her imagery includes the people and animals of the Brush Country going about their business in the droughty forbidding terrain, the small towns and border culture.

Her take on the myth of Texas resonates with love, humor, and a sense of mission – a witnessing of a world apart – and an attempt to reveal the universal nature of that myth.

Her work is in many private and corporate collections, including: the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation, the AT&T Center, Texas A&M International University, the University of Texas at San Antonio, USAA, USAA Life, and Valero Energy. She is represented by the Hunt Gallery in San Antonio.

Janet is also a co-founder and President of the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization Hecho en Encinal. This organization, located in Encinal, Texas is dedicated to bringing arts and humanities programming and projects to rural South Texas.

She and her husband, rancher, George Krueger, have lived on his family's working ranch near Encinal, Texas since 1979.  They have two grown children who reside in Austin and San Francisco.

She was an Associate Professor of Art at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas from 1998 until her retirement in May 2008.

The State Legislature honored her as Texas State 2 Dimensional Artist for 2008.
