Though she was never a performer, Flaxie spent her life in rodeo. She worked outside the arena performing the behind the scenes jobs of arena secretary, timer or administrative assistant for some of the biggest rodeos. After leaving the rodeo circuit, Flaxie spent ten years as the executive secretary of the Rodeo Division at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. She founded the Rodeo Historical Society and documented rodeo history through newsletters and publications.
