Nomination Form
The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame honors and documents the lives of women who have distinguished themselves while exemplifying the pioneer spirit of the American West.
If you would like to nominate someone for induction to the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, please fill out and send in a nomination form and pay close attention to the instructions. Once the nomination form is completed and sent in, it will be filed in the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame archives, reviewed every year during the selection process and available for researchers throughout the year.
The deadline for nominations is Jan. 15 of each year.

Q Can I nominate myself?
A Yes.
Q Do I need to nominate this person again next year?
A No, once a person is nominated, they are nominated forever and will be under consideration every year.
Q What type of things should I send in with the form?
A Many people send in photographs (which will not be returned and become part of the archives), newspaper clippings, letters of support from individuals, books that include biographical information on the nominee.
Q How long does it take till a nominee is inducted?
A There is no way to predict how long it takes. Some honorees have been nominated for 15 to 20 years before they were inducted.
Q Will you let me know when you receive the nomination form?
A Yes, you will receive a letter confirming receipt of the nomination form.
Q How many others have been nominated?
A Over 700 women have been nominated to the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. The pool of nominees is very large. An additional benefit is that the nomination forms create a permanent record of each womans life, therefore creating a rich archive of womens experiences in the West.
Q How are the honorees chosen each year?
A Each year, between January and April, two committees meet to select that years honorees. First, a research committee meets to narrow the pool of nominees to a workable number, then a selection committee meets to select four to six honorees.
Q Can I add more information to a nomination form at a later date?
A Yes, you can add letters, news clippings, awards, honors, etc., at any time after a woman has been nominated. In addition, the research staff tries to add relevant information to the nomination files when possible.
