The concept is simple and ageless. We all have little treasures locked away in attics, basements, and bedroom closets. Items, such as luxury purses, clutches, and handbags- while no longer new to us- still retain great value in an open market environment. At relatively no cost to the donor, you donate these darlings of yester years and make them available at auction to new owners who value them more than you can imagine.
We were fortunate to have Cameron Silver, owner of Decades boutiques in Los Angeles and London and founder and creative director of Decades Denim, to be our luncheon speaker and to introduce his “hot off the press” coffee table book entitled Decades: A Century of Fashion which is a compilation of the most significant 20th century fashions, as well as many of the celebrities he collaborated with over the years. A book signing followed the luncheon.
Prior to the luncheon, guests had the opportunity to bid on exciting gently used designer bags such as Chanel, Prada, Kieselstein-Cord, Louis Vuitton, etc. which were on display for a silent auction. Once the silent auction closed, guests were seated for the luncheon and to enjoy Cameron Silver’s presentation. As guests left the area, the “Old Bags” was given to the highest bidders for payment and check out.
All proceeds benefitted the National Cowgirl Museum’s award winning education programs. These programs allow the Museum to illustrate, in concrete ways, how women who shape the west, change the world..
